The CBS Broadcast Group said it has appointed Backer Spielvogel Bates Inc. as its advertising agency. Backer Spielvogel Bates will be responsible for creating print advertising for CBS sports, news, entertainment and international broadcast operations as well as for developing a media planning strategy and placing ads, CBS said. CBS declined to estimate how much it spends on such advertising. Backer Spielvogel Bates is a unit of Saatchi & Saatchi Co., a London-based advertising holding company.
