FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Rex Chapman scored 18 points, and David Robinson added 16 Thursday night to lead the U.S. Pan American basketball team to a 109-95 victory over a team of National Basketball Assn. players.
The victory completed a sweep of a three-game exhibition series for the U.S. team, which begins Pan Am tournament play Sunday against Panama.
Chuck Person of the Indiana Pacers, the NBA rookie of the year, made four three-point shots in a 31-11 second-half run by the NBA team that cut its deficit to seven points at 78-71.
The U.S. team responded with a 12-2 run to put the game out of reach. Robinson had two dunks to help make it 90-73.
