Woman, 80, Dies of Injuries Suffered in Robbery

An elderly woman has died of head wounds suffered when she was robbed of her purse and beaten near her Newhall home, authorities said.
Mabel Flory, 80, died at Henry Mayo Hospital in Valencia more than a week after she had checked herself into the facility complaining of headaches, officials said.
She was walking in the 24300 block of San Fernando Road on June 18 when an unidentified woman in her 20s grabbed the purse and beat the elderly woman repeatedly before running off. Surgery was later performed but the woman failed to improve.
