Oliver North May Be the Man for the Job

Is anyone to take seriously the University of Michigan advertisement for an athletic director in your sports section (July 19). The candidate must have superior verbal skills, a commitment to advancing student goals, be non-discriminatory and (you fill in your own superlatives). There hasn’t been anyone around like that for 2,000 years.
Perhaps a composite of Pope John Paul II, Vin Scully, Jesse Jackson, Jim Murray, Margaret Thatcher, Bob Knight, Al Davis, Andy Rooney, Lee Iaccoca, and just a pinch of Bosworth (anywhere but from his mouth) would do the trick.
The best individual candidate would be Oliver North, who has given the image of satisfying all the requirements. Only time will tell if he can somehow find the loopholes in the Big Ten and NCAA compliance rules.
