Woodland Hills Signs Will Point Way to West Hills

Residents of West Hills, the upstart west San Fernando Valley community that has carved a new identity for itself out of Canoga Park, will soon make their presence felt in Woodland Hills.
State officials said Wednesday that three new West Hills directional signs will be installed at the Ventura Freeway’s Valley Circle-Mulholland Drive interchange in Woodland Hills.
The signs were requested by leaders of the West Hills formation committee and will be erected next to the interchange’s off-ramps, said Eric Rose, an aide to State Sen. Ed Davis.
Rose said the committee requested that the signs be placed next to the freeway itself, but the state Department of Transportation balked at that.
Davis arranged the compromise location because the new West Hills name is not yet used on maps, Rose said. “They will greatly reduce confusion,” he said.
