Sierra Madre : Band Shell Celebration Set

A public celebration on Sunday will mark the completion of a new band shell in Memorial Park. The Chamber of Commerce, which has worked on the project for two years, will sell refreshments in an effort to raise additional funds for “finishing touches,” according to chamber President David May.

A temporary band shell that once stood behind the park’s stage was destroyed in a storm a few years ago. The chamber has since raised about $12,000 for a concrete-and-steel replacement and is trying to get an additional $5,000 to expand the stage and buy sound equipment.
