Dreamy Way to Give Aid to the Arts

Hallelujah! Arts activists Marcy Mulville, Theresa Pawlowski and Floss Schumacher have dreamed up a benefit to raise money for Orange County’s Pacific Symphony and Master Chorale performance of the “Hallelujah Chorus” for Pope John Paul II in September.
They’re calling the Aug. 30 fund-raiser a “Midsummer Night’s Dream.” And, with this threesome doing the planning, it can be nothing less than heavenly.
One devilish catch: Finding a manse gorgeous and commodious enough to hold hundreds of generous music-lovers. The up-for-sale, Newport Bay home that once belonged to John Wayne was first on the list, but insurance costs were prohibitive.
No problem getting underwriters for the cause, however. The goal: 20 to 25 donors at between $2,500 to $5,000 each. According to Pawlowski, 19 persons have already signed up.
Cathy Rigby and Tom McCoy--producers of the Pope’s Sept. 15 Mass at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum--will perform at the benefit.
