Subway tracks damaged by the derailment of a freight train Friday in Washington were repaired, and Metropolitan Area Transit Authority officials hoped to have service for this morning’s rush hour. Ten of the 21 cars that derailed from a 134-car CSX freight train had sprawled across adjacent subway system tracks and cut off service from the Silver Spring and Takoma Park stations in Maryland. More than 200 repairmen worked around the clock to repair 800 feet of damaged rails and regrade track beds, a spokeswoman said. Meanwhile, buses transported about 32,500 stranded commuters to other subway stations, she said.
