Two men have been arrested and a third is being sought in the kidnaping of the Los Angeles district attorney’s bodyguard and the theft of his official car, police said today.
Arturo Samaniego, 35, and Victor Manuel Lopez, 20, were arrested late Thursday at a Los Angeles restaurant, said sheriff’s Deputy Pete Fosselman. They were booked for investigation of kidnaping, robbery, car theft and parole violation and held without bail, officials said. A third suspect remained at large. “The motive is still basically unknown, but it looks like it was just a random car theft, kidnaping-robbery,” said sheriff’s Lt. Bob Malone. The bodyguard escaped shortly after he was abducted.
