Baker of Garden Grove Captures Bowling Tournament

DUBLIN, Calif. — Mark Baker of Garden Grove, ranked as low as 126th in the field of 160 during the week, defeated David Ozio, 257-233, Wednesday night to win the $125,000 Kessler Professional Bowlers Association Open.
Baker won his third title and collected $18,000.
“I didn’t get excited,” he said. “I shot 770 my last three games (of the third round) just to get into the (top 24). I kept it under control and it made a difference.”
In the semifinal, Ozio, of Vidor, Tex., eliminated Rusty Greiner of Richmond, Calif., 236-184. Greiner took home $7,000 for third.
In the previous match, Ozio downed John Gant of Independence, Ky., 203-195. Gant earned $5,500 for fourth.
Fifth-place money of $4,500 went to John Forst of Woodridge, Ill., after Gant beat Forst, 212-203, in the opening match.
