The royal couple are scheduled to leave Tokyo May 9 for a five-day visit of Mexico as guests of President Miguel de la Madrid, it said.
They will attend the celebration marking the 90th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Mexico.
The couple will visit Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver on a nine-day tour of Canada, beginning May 13. They will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
The prince, who studied in Canada for three years from 1978, now serves as honorary president of the Japan-Canada Society.
