‘PLATINO’

I am writing to compliment Calendar for running Barrios’ article. I only wish that he had taken the article to its logical conclusion.
It’s clear that film makers have a responsibility to the whole world to fairly and unbiasedly represent all people of the Earth in all situations presented to the equality-minded public. Anything less is racism.
As per the example of “Platoon,” I was extremely offended that there were no accurate depictions of the American Eskimos’ contribution to the Vietnam conflict. I’m certain that many gave their lives and limbs bravely and without blubbering.
Also, I was troubled by the omission of any major roles for blind Italian dwarfs with speech impediments. And what of women? And no depictions of the horrors of the Holocaust. No Swedish frogmen, no French crooners, no Australian doughboys. . . .
