Mickey Mantle returned to Yankee Stadium Sunday, one week after he was stricken on a plane and thought he was dying.

Mantle was in New York to work on the Yankees’ cable telecast and told newsmen, “I feel very lucky.”

Mantle was heading home on a flight to Dallas after a long stretch of travel last week when he experienced shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. “I had a cold and it got worse,” he said. “When I couldn’t breathe, I got scared.”

Mantle said he got the attention of a stewardess and asked, “Have you ever had anyone have a heart attack?” Said Mantle: “I was thinking, maybe this is it.”
