California Ranks High as Location for Industries

California was the third most popular choice in 1986 as the state for locating or expanding an industrial facility, according to the Site Selection Handbook.
Florida was the most popular with 248 new facilities, followed by Illinois with 233 and California with 220.
The Handbook, a publication of the Atlanta-based Industrial Development Research Council, surveyed more than 3,000 firms.
