Surrogate Mother Contracts

Your editorial points out that we have no answers to emotions. I think it is time to take the “bull by the horns” and get more organized. Obviously, emotions in this matter must be completely disregarded. The natural mother said she “became emotionally attached,” but what about the natural father? It is his baby, also. Isn’t he allowed to become emotionally attached, also?
There is no other way to deal with this than to treat it strictly as a business transaction. (This is how the court ruled.) The mother was sought after for a particular service (“renting her womb”), a contract was signed, the service was paid for, the service was performed, and the “product” should be handed over.
Most people are probably thinking, “How barbaric--this is a human child--not a product.” But because there are no answers for emotions, emotions must be ruled out. I bet those couples who are unable to have children do not think of it as barbaric, but as a way of experiencing the joy of children in their home.
