New Navy Cruiser Goes on Duty in Florida

MAYPORT, Fla. — One of the Navy’s newest ships, the Mobile Bay, began duty Friday at Mayport Naval Station, bringing a crew of 360 and an annual payroll of $6.5 million.
The Mobile Bay is a 567-foot Aegis-class cruiser, responsible for protecting aircraft carrier battle groups.
