Ropak Corp. Reports Loss in First Quarter

Ropak Corp. of Fullerton said it had a net loss of $126,000 for the first quarter, compared with a $186,000 profit in the same period last year. Sales for the period, however, increased by 50% to $12.4 million from $8.3 million.

The company, which makes plastic packaging products, blamed the loss on the higher costs of both its raw materials and the interest on its loans. Delayed shipments of its products also had a negative impact on the company’s profitability.
