UCI Women Beat UC Santa Barbara in Tennis, 5-4

UC Irvine defeated UC Santa Barbara in women’s tennis for the first time since 1982 with a 5-4 victory Wednesday at Goleta.
Kathy Rose and Stephanie Rhorer beat Liz Costa and Jill Thomson, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the final doubles match to give UCI its sixth straight victory.
Rose, Uma Rao and Debbie Strombeck won singles matches, and Dina Trenwith-Haruko Shigekawa won in doubles for UCI (14-14).
