Anaheim : Hilton to Appeal Ruling Against Change of Venue

The owners of the Anaheim Hilton & Towers will appeal a judge’s ruling that denied their request for a change of venue in their multimillion-dollar dispute with the City of Anaheim.
The city filed a lawsuit against the Hilton owners last month, claiming that they have failed to pay $6 million on bonds used to finance a 3,200-space hotel parking garage.
Hotel official Stanley R. Castleton said the Hilton never agreed to assume the debt for garage construction, which totals $54 million.
Superior Court Judge Tully H. Seymour denied the hotel’s request that the case be transferred for trial to another county.
Castleton said: “We feel it’s unfair to ask a local judge or local citizens to decide an issue when one of the parties is not only the largest but one of the most prominent and visible cities within Orange County.”
He said his firm will ask the state Court of Appeal to reverse Seymour’s ruling.
