Downey : Car Sales Complaint Settled
A consumer protection action against Downey Auto Center, 9500 Lakewood Blvd., has been settled. Atty. Gen. John K. Van de Kamp had charged the company with advertising certain vehicles for sale at specified prices, terms and conditions and then not selling the vehicles as advertised. Downey Auto Center agreed to the settlement without making any admission of wrongdoing.
The settlement requires the dealership to sell advertised vehicles at or below advertised prices, to comply with California advertising law and to institute internal procedures to assure that customers are not charged more than the advertised prices and terms. The dealership paid $15,000 in civil penalties, attorney fees and investigative costs.
