SAN DIEGO — Shaun Manning, a basketball All-American at Grossmont College, signed a letter of intent Tuesday night to attend United States International University. Manning, a 6-foot 3-inch guard, averaged 22 points and made 83 of 153 three-pointers to lead Grossmont to the second round of the Southern California Regionals last season.
“I felt (USIU) knew me better than anyone else,” said Manning. “They know who I am and what I can do.”
USIU Coach Gary Zarecky said that the Gulls also received a verbal commitment from Kelly Wesley, a 6-6 forward from De Anza Community College. Wesley averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds last season.
