A group of suspected gang members attacked and beat a teen-ager in a beachside parking lot in what police said was the latest gang-related incident near the Santa Monica Pier. Police Lt. Jim Dawson reported that the 16-year-old victim, who was not identified, was beaten and kicked by 20 to 25 suspected gang members from the South Los Angeles area in the parking lot north of the pier. The assailants fled in several automobiles, and the victim, who also resides in the South Los Angeles area, was taken to Santa Monica Hospital Medical Center. Doctors said the teen-ager was treated for head and eye injuries and numerous bruises. No arrests were made.
