Video distributor Vestron Inc. failed Tuesday in its bid to force the producers of “Platoon” and “Hoosiers,” Hemdale Film Corp. and Hemdale Video Corp., to turn over prints of the films. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ricardo Torres refused Vestron’s request for a court order, saying the contract between the two parties for video distribution rights was vague and also that Vestron waited three to four months before it did anything under the contract to acquire the rights to the hit movies. Hemdale will now seek a new video distributor. Vestron’s attorney said the company will consider an appeal.
