Override of Highway Bill

The passage of the lard-laden highway bill over Reagan’s veto represents a loss for the country, not the President.
He can now take the high ground in the battle against irresponsible spending and the people can finally see plainly that Congress, not the Administration, is in charge of the purse strings and primarily responsible for the horrible budget deficit.
The Democrats are revealed for what they are--tax and spenders (in everything except national defense, of course). And the burden of blame for our indebtedness will fall on them, where it belongs. All of which is small consolation to a public that will have to pay for turkeys like the Los Angeles Metro Rail--that singular monument to the arrogance and stupidity of our mayor.
