The congressional moratorium blocking the sale of land belonging to the Veterans Administration will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at the West Los Angeles Veterans Medical Center by the Committee to Save the Land.
The moratorium, passed last October, prevents the sale of 80 acres at the Westwood complex and 31.8 acres at the Sepulveda Veterans Administration Hospital until at least 1988.
Westwood resident Sandy Brown, one of the activists who fought for the moratorium, said that Sen. Pete Wilson (R-Calif.) and Sen. Alan Cranston (R-Calif.) will be present, as well as representatives from various veterans organizations.
