Doug Chandler Wins Motorcycle Race at Ascot

Doug Chandler of Salinas won the national half-mile event of American Motorcyclists Assn. competition Saturday at Ascot Park in Gardena.
Taking the lead from Chris Carr of Stockton on the 11th of 20 laps, Chandler stayed in front the rest of the way, while Carr slipped back to fourth place at the finish.
The runner-up was Ronnie Jones of Oklahoma City, with Ted Boody of Sapulpa, Okla., finishing third.
