Lomita to Ask Cities to Join Celebration
The city of Lomita will contact other South Bay cities to suggest that they jointly celebrate the bicentennial of the Constitution.
The City Council has also decided to allow its Chamber of Commerce to use Lomita Park for a fireworks display on July 5 to commemorate the signing of the Constitution.
In other actions, the council voted to spend $500 to support the Friends of the Library in the group’s drive to purchase a second machine to replace its microfilm system. The computerized machine costs $3,000.
The council also pledged $250 to support the Holy Name Society’s Easter dinner and grocery giveaway for senior citizens.
