San Diego High School Baseball : Hilltop Scores Early, Often in 18-1 Win Over Marian

Ward Lannom, Chad Boyd and Rob DePerro hit third-inning home runs Thursday to lead Hilltop High School to an 18-1 victory over Marian in a Metro Conference baseball game at Marian.
Lannom hit a bases-empty home run, Boyd a three-run homer and DePerro a two-run homer. Hilltop led, 16-0, after three innings.
Steve Gritts added four hits for Hilltop (3-1, 4-5). DePerro, who had three hits and four RBIs, also pitched a five-hitter.
In other Metro Conference games:
Montgomery 2, Mar Vista 1--Hector Lorenzana pitched a three-hitter, and Montgomery (2-1, 7-6) scored two runs in the sixth to beat Mar Vista at Montgomery. Jacob Saab hit a leadoff homer in the sixth to tie the score, 1-1. Later in the inning, Johnny Autiero hit a sacrifice fly to score pinch-runner Alberto Candelaria with the go-ahead run.
Sweetwater 1, Castle Park 0--Esteban Acosta pitched a five-hitter to lead Sweetwater (1-2, 3-7) at home. Ed Magdaleno doubled in the only run in the sixth.
Chula Vista 18, Southwest 2--Eric Slinkard and George Mora each had three hits and three RBIs to lead Chula Vista (2-1, 5-5-1) at Southwest. Chula Vista scored 12 runs in the fourth inning. Conan Murphy hit a home run and drove in three runs for Chula Vista. Brian Murphy pitched six innings for the victory.
