12 Fire Heroes Lauded by the Burn Institute

Twelve people were honored Thursday night by the Burn Institute for risking their lives while attempting to rescue others during a fire.
The Burn Institute held its 14th Annual Spirit of Courage awards banquet at the San Diego Hilton Hotel and honored the following civilians for their actions during 1986:
William B. Collins Jr. of San Diego; Harry Cunningham of National City; Timothy Jones of Escondido; William McFall of Fellows, Calif.; Richard Mildner of Encinitas; Michael Pallamary of San Diego, and Cheryl Sadin of San Diego. McFall did not attend the banquet.
Police officers honored for heroism in the line of duty included Edward Aceves and Douglas Oliver of the La Mesa Police Department, and Kevin J. Armentano and Reserve Sgt. James Downing of the Escondido Police Department.
Also honored was firefighter Dominick Arena Jr. of the Escondido Fire Department, who was not on duty at the time of his actions.
