CHINESE BRUSH PAINT SHOW TO INCLUDE AN EXHIBITION

More than 200 entries are expected in “Oriental Reflections 1987,” the Chinese brush painting show to be held Saturday through April 18 at Coastline College’s Costa Mesa Center.

Sponsored by the Huntington Beach-based American Artists of Chinese Brush Painting, the show will also offer demonstrations of the “Po-mo” style of painting.

Admission is free. The exhibit hours at the center, 2990 Mesa Verde Drive East, will be 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. A reception and awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m.

During the remainder of the show, hours will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 6-year-old group is made up of about 500 artists in Southern California and 11 other states. The founder is Ning Yeh, a Coastline College teacher. His public TV series on Chinese brush painting is to be aired this fall.

Works by the American Artists organization have been shown in Taiwan, as well as at the Sherman Library in Corona del Mar, Mills House in Garden Grove and California Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles.
