Time Changes

Adjusting to daylight-saving time used to be a piece of cake. You just had to move the clock hand back or forward. But now changing time is a pain.
Not only are our watches digital, but every VCR, stereo, TV, stove, and microwave has its own clock. They all have to be changed, and no two are adjusted the same way.
Each has its own routine (“Press B twice, then press A while the number flashes . . . “). Since you can’t remember all these rigamaroles for six months, you have to dig out the instruction books every time (if you can find them) and figure out how to set each one.
There must be a simple way out of all this nonsense. Why not just tell everybody to go to work at 8 a.m. instead of 9 a.m.? Then we could leave the clocks alone.
