Duarte : Charity Is on the Menu

Restaurant owner Kostas (Gus) Nicolacopoulos, who for the past five years has donated a day’s receipts to the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, raised $2,850 this year, nearly twice his goal.
Nicolacopoulos set aside March 26 to raise funds for the hospital and to thank the doctors and nurses who treated his brother, Andreas, who died of cancer in 1979.
In a small ceremony at the Arrow Palms Family restaurant just north of Covina last week, Nicolacopoulos presented a check for $2,850 to Sanford Shapero, chief executive of the City of Hope.
