San Diego College Baseball : UCSD Creates Some History in Win Over Aztecs

SAN DIEGO — UC San Diego defeated San Diego State, 7-4, in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at La Jolla.
UCSD, ranked ninth in Division III, had never beaten the Aztecs, a Division I team.
Freshman left-hander Kyle Abbott (4-1) pitched five innings. Rick Nowak pitched four shutout innings for the save. UCSD is 17-10.
Thad Ferre went 3 for 4 and scored three runs and Gary Fessia was 2 for 3 with three runs batted in to lead the Tritons. Anthony Johnson was 2 for 3 to lead SDSU (19-17-1)
United States International 7, UC Santa Barbara 0--Dean Weese allowed two hits in nine innings for USIU in a nonconference game at Goleta.
Weese (4-3) had five strikeouts. Todd Kynett was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and Jerry Benavides went 2 for 2 and scored twice to lead the Gulls (20-21-1).
