Gene Autry, the singing cowboy who starred in 93 Westerns and sold 40 million records, became Monday the first entertainer ever honored with five stars on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. Autry, 79, now owns four radio stations, four music publishing companies, a hotel in Palm Springs and the California Angels. “This means an awful lot to me, because a five-star general is as high as you can go,” Autry said. “I’m sure there are a lot of others out here in Hollywood that deserve four or five or six of them, but I’m very pleased to have five, and the only thing that will ever top it for me is if my Angels win the World Series.”
