Battleship Shift to S.F. Halted

WASHINGTON — The House Armed Services Committee agreed today to defer $22 million for home porting the battleship Missouri in San Francisco Bay because of unresolved environmental concerns.
The panel decided to put off funding for dredging at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard to accommodate the Missouri and several of the seven-ship supporting task force.
