Col. Aviem Sella, who resigned as an Israeli air base commander over his role in the Pollard spy scandal, has been appointed an instructor at the prestigious National Security College, which grooms officers for top posts in the Israeli armed forces. Sella, a 41-year-old air ace, has been indicted in the United States on charges he recruited former U.S. naval intelligence analyst Jonathan Jay Pollard to spy for Israel. Despite his alleged role in the scandal, Sella was appointed commander of the large Tel Nof air base in a move that angered Washington. A week ago, he gave up the command to help improve U.S.-Israeli relations.
