San Diego High School Baseball : Bledsoe’s 2-Run Double Rallies Coronado Past Hilltop

Richie Bledsoe doubled with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning to drive in the tying and winning runs and give Coronado a 7-6 victory Friday over Hilltop in a Metro League game.
After falling behind 4-1 in the early innings, Hilltop (1-1 in league) tied the score in the fifth and went ahead, 5-4, in the ninth, when Steve Gritts singled home Ward Lanham. Gritts later scored on a fielder’s choice.
Coronado’s Noi Duhala went 3 for 3 with a double and two runs scored. Teammate J.D. Douglas had three hits and two RBIs, and Danny Mosher hit a two-run home run for Coronado (2-0, 8-2). Hilltop was paced by Lanham with three hits and Gritts with two RBIs. Paul Austin (3-0) was the winning pitcher.
CITY EASTERN LEAGUE
Patrick Henry 6, Morse 4--Patrick Henry (3-1, 6-2-1) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to give Morse its fourth league loss in as many games. Patrick Henry’s David Schiff was 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Teammate Lance Lowery drove in three runs with two hits. Tony McVickar was the winning pitcher.
Mira Mesa 4, Point Loma 2--Mike Eicher (5-0) pitched a four-hitter to beat visiting Point Loma. Losing pitcher Israel Stanley also allowed only four hits but was victimized by five Point Loma errors that led to two unearned runs.

CITY CENTRAL LEAGUE
Christian 9, Lincoln 4--Matt Brouillette, Jim Loucks and Mike Ippolito all hit home runs as Christian (3-1, 7-4) won at Lincoln. With Christian leading 3-2 in the fifth, Brouillette hit a three-run home run. Loucks followed in the sixth with a solo home run and Ippolito hit a two-run homer in the same inning. Jon Okken (3-1) pitched a three-hitter.
St. Augustine 4, Crawford 1--Leon Olais drove in what proved to be the winning run with a single in the third inning to give visiting St. Augustine (2-2 in league) the victory. Jim Bitler also had two hits and an RBI for St. Augustine. Crawford’s Doonie Ward had two singles and drove in a run.
CITY WESTERN LEAGUE
Mission Bay 19, University City 7--Colin Davis and Scott Vonderlieth each had four RBIs as Mission Bay (3-1, 7-3) beat host University City (1-3 in league). Mission Bay pitcher Sean Rees struck out 10 in four innings, but gave up seven runs, including a two-run homer by Brian Sexton and a three-run shot by Jim Schafer.
Clairemont 12, Kearny 4--Mike Giardano was 3 for 3 with a three-run home run to lead first-place Clairemont (4-0, 5-5-1) at Kearny. Garth Klem also had a solo homer and four RBIs. Kearny’s Lupe Ford hit a three-run homer in the first inning. Teammate Scot Welish went 3 for 4.

PALOMAR LEAGUE
Fallbrook 2, San Dieguito 1--Pitcher Mark Ringkamp, entering the game in the bottom of the seventh with runners on second and third, threw three strikes to get the last out and a save for Fallbrook (2-0, 7-1) at San Dieguito (0-1, 5-4). Jamie Willcox (2-0) pitched the first 6 innings for Fallbrook, allowing three hits. San Dieguito’s Gary Ross Jr., son of the former San Diego Padre pitcher, pitched a two-hitter but lost the game on two unearned runs.
Briefly: Vista 18, Poway 5.
