Kicker Steve Fehr, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy who has spent the last five years in the Marines, was signed as a free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fehr, 28, who coverted 44 of 62 field goal attempts in his three years at Navy, said: “I don’t think it (the layoff) will hurt my chances. I’ve been able to stay with kicking. I’m stronger now and I feel I’m in better shape than I was at Navy.”
