Two servicemen were killed late Monday when their car, traveling at high speed, slammed into two parked cars in Encanto.
Jim Bolen, a traffic investigator for the San Diego Police Department, said the car carrying the two men was westbound in the 5200 block of Imperial Avenue about 10:30 p.m. when it overran a curve and crashed into the cars.
Investigators said a gasoline tank on one of the parked cars exploded in flames.
Police are seeking to determine precisely how fast the car was going. The names of the two victimes were withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
