A U.S. senator and a representative called for a congressional investigation of the Pentagon’s treatment of an Air Force officer who they say was forced to retire because he criticized the testing program for the Army’s new Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Rep. Mel Levine (D-Santa Monica) and Sen. David Pryor (D-Ark.) reported on their own inquiry into the case of Lt. Col. James Burton. They called an earlier report from the Pentagon inspector general’s office, which cleared the Air Force of any impropriety, “incomplete and misleading” and said that the matter should be reviewed by the appropriate congressional committees.
