A woman in an East San Diego apartment was shot five times by police Thursday night after she allegedly raised a loaded pistol as members of the Narcotics Task Force entered the residence, police said.
The woman, whose identity was not available, was taken to Mercy Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit. She was described only as about 30 years old. She was shot with a .38-caliber pistol and most of her wounds were on her torso, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Details surrounding the 6:40 p.m. shooting at 4328 48th St. were sketchy, but San Diego police said the Narcotics Task Force had a search warrant for the apartment. As the officers entered the front room, the woman, who was lying on a couch, raised a loaded handgun at them, police said.
She was then shot several times by a sheriff’s deputy who is a member of the multi-agency task force. The deputy’s name was unavailable. No one else was injured.
