Dissident Koryagin’s Son, 19, Released From Labor Camp

FRANKFURT, West Germany — The 19-year-old son of Soviet dissident Anatoly Koryagin has been released from labor camp, and the family has been asked to apply to leave the Soviet Union, a human rights group said today.
Anatoly Koryagin, one of the Soviet Union’s best-known dissidents, was released from prison last month. He has said he would not leave the Soviet Union without his son, Ivan.
The Frankfurt-based International Assn. for Human Rights said it received a call from Anatoly Koryagin today in which he said Ivan had returned home to Kharkov in the Soviet Ukraine on Wednesday.
Ivan Koryagin was sentenced to a three-year prison term in 1985 after being involved in a fight that human rights groups said was provoked by plainclothes security agents.
Anatoly Koryagin, 48, has said his son was arrested “to blackmail me.” Koryagin, a psychiatrist, was convicted of anti-Soviet activity after he accused authorities of sending sane dissidents to mental institutions.
The dissident leader has said he wants to emigrate to Switzerland.
