Farina Elected President of California BIA

Fresno home builder J. A. Farina has been elected 1987 president of the California Building Industry Assn., succeeding Forrest Maurer of Sacramento.

A veteran of more than 30 years in the building industry, Farina, 51, is president of Westwood Properties Inc. He said that 1987 priorities for the trade group include further expansion of balanced economic growth in California, the control of developmental fees and no-growth or controlled growth moves, equitable financing of infrastructure and association membership growth.

Serving with Farina are: Roger C. Werbel, Roger C. Werbel Inc., Monterey Park, first vice president; Harold A. Boex, H & B Developers, Vallejo, second vice president; Richard L. Hall, La Linda Homes, Orange, treasurer; Dennis L. Russell, Den-Ed Russell Inc., San Diego, secretary, and Robert H. Rivinius, Sacramento, executive vice president.

Farina is a three-time president (1965, 1969 and 1975) of the Building Industry Assn. of San Joaquin Valley. He served as a national director of the National Assn. of Home Builders from 1978 to 1982. He is a community leader in his hometown and is a licensed pilot.
