HER PLACE IS IN THE KITCHEN

Speaking of Oscar nominees in odd movies, Kathleen Turner can be seen emoting as the supply-store owner who woos both Rutger Hauer and Powers Boothe (one is fighting to protect a rare bird egg--the other wants to “kidnap” it for a millionaire collector!) in “A Breed Apart.” The 1984 title is now playing the cable-TV circuit (and it’s available on videocassette, from Vestron) after just-about skipping theatrical release.

The pic from director Phillipe Mora (“Howling II” and the upcoming “III”) did play Atlanta and Charlotte, Ga., in the spring of 1986.

“It did so poorly we were lucky to get a second week,” said a rep for Hemdale Films, who added that it later made its Southern Cal debut “strictly as a second bill at the drive-ins.”
