LA PAZ, Bolivia — An elite narcotics strike force destroyed two huge cocaine-processing laboratories capable of refining more than a ton of pure cocaine a week, Bolivian authorities said Thursday.
Officials said the raids occurred Tuesday in a jungle region near the border with Brazil. There was no report of arrests, and the only drugs found were eight small bags of cocaine paste.
The U.S.-financed strike force was flown into the region by a U.S. Mini-Hercules transport plane that is on indefinite loan to the La Paz government, officials said.
