Laguna Hills : Transportation Center Will Open on Saturday

Federal, state and local officials will be on hand Saturday for the grand opening of the Laguna Hills Transportation Center, a $3.4-million satellite bus depot expected to serve about 1,000 Orange County Transit District passengers a day.
The facility, similar to downtown Santa Ana and Fullerton transportation centers that also serve OCTD passengers, will be a key transfer point for five south Orange County bus lines, according to Joanne Curran, OCTD spokeswoman.
The new depot includes 12 bus bays and parking for 180 cars, and is located at the intersection of Paseo de Valencia and Calle de Los Caballeros, south of the Laguna Hills Mall.
Among the officials scheduled to participate in the 8:30 a.m. grand opening ceremonies are Reps. Ron Packard (R-Carlsbad) and Robert E. Badham (R-Newport Beach), state Sens. Marian Bergeson (R-Newport Beach) and William Campbell (R-Hacienda Heights), and Assemblyman Gil Ferguson (R-Newport Beach).
The facility was financed entirely with federal urban mass transit grants, according to Curran.
