Lund Quits CBS for High Post at Multimedia

Peter A. Lund, president of CBS-owned television stations, resigned Thursday to become president of Multimedia Entertainment, the company that produces Phil Donahue’s show.
Lund, 46, had previously served as president of CBS Sports and has been in his current position for three months.
“Yes, I’m going off to be in show biz,” Lund said. “That’s a big part of the reason--the opportunity to do something different in this business, to be in the programming end and do some of that.”
Lund said formal negotiations began about three weeks ago.
Asked whether his departure had anything to do with recent cutbacks and layoffs at New York-based CBS Inc., Lund said it did not. He said Laurence Tisch, president of CBS Inc., and Gene Jankowski, president of CBS Broadcast Group, told him he had a future at CBS if he chose not to take the job. “They’ve been just terrific,” he said.
