Puppeteer Bil Baird Dies at 82

NEW YORK — Master puppeteer Bil Baird who with his late wife, Cora, was featured on many early television shows, has died in his home of complications of bone-marrow cancer.
His daughter today said the creator of Charlemane the Lion and Slugger Ryan, who was best known for his appearances on the old “Jack Paar Show,” was 82.
