A former security guard for a Robinson’s department store pleaded innocent Wednesday to a grand theft charge involving the shoplifting of approximately 2,200 items valued at $200,000.
Eileen Mary Ford, 33, was ordered to appear June 30 for a preliminary hearing.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Al Barret said San Diego police found more than 2,200 items, mostly clothes, in Ford’s Kensington home in December.
Ford worked as a security guard for the Robinson’s store at University Towne Centre, where her duties included protecting the store from shoplifters.
Ford also worked as a special education teacher in Ramona, but had been on leave.
San Diego Municipal Judge Joe Littlejohn allowed her to remain free on her own recognizance.
Police said most of the clothes found in the home had not been worn and had price tags attached. The merchandise took up most of Ford’s bedroom.
