The Board of Directors has raised the pay of City Clerk Pam Swift from $47,731 to $61,387, bringing her salary in line with that of other department heads.
City Director Jess Hughston said that after Swift had asked for a raise, he studied the salaries of other city clerks throughout the state. Hughston said he found that most city clerk jobs were held by women and that their salaries were “disproportionately low” compared to those of male department heads.
Swift is the city’s chief election officer, heads the records management program and supervises seven people.
